We use quince only 0,8% and we have yield per tree from 7 until 15 kg, which indicates the fact, that we grow quince extensively.People plant quince, as a fruit sort, in lot of lands since ancient time. People knew about it 4 000 years ago.It hasorigin in Caucasus, from where it expanded on the East and than on the South to Small Asia and from down there to the Ancient Greece. Latin name isCydonia, origin from the place on Crete. In our region it booms late – from end of April until the middle of May and on this way it avoids late spring frost.
